In May 2021, we launched an inspiring Kids & Teens Music Mentorship Program at CFI, Mutungo Biina, a journey that would light the way for young talents to discover and refine their God-given abilities. Organized by the Infinite Band, this program was not just about music; it was about nurturing the next generation of worship leaders and musicians who would serve in their respective churches with passion and purpose.
Over the course of several weeks, we were blessed to welcome at least 30 enthusiastic children and teens eager to learn. The program offered comprehensive training in various aspects of music, including vocal singing, keyboard techniques, sound management, and lighting. Each session was filled with joy, laughter, and the spirit of creativity, as our mentors shared their knowledge and experience with these budding talents.
Sadly, the program faced an unexpected pause due to the second wave of the 2021 pandemic lockdown. However, the impact of those initial sessions left a lasting impression on both the participants and the mentors. We witnessed the excitement in the eyes of the kids as they discovered their potential and learned to use their voices and instruments to glorify God.
The Importance of Our Own Rehearsal Space
One of our primary goals is to establish our own dedicated rehearsal space, which will grant us independence from relying on church equipment. Many churches have busy annual schedules that can limit our access to their facilities. Owning our own space will provide several advantages:
Consistent Access: We can schedule rehearsals and training sessions without conflicts, ensuring that our kids have regular opportunities to practice and improve.
Tailored Environment: We can design the space to meet our specific needs, incorporating the right equipment and ambiance conducive to creativity and learning.
Increased Flexibility: With our own facility, we can run programs, workshops, and events at our convenience, allowing for greater participation and engagement from our youth.
Sustainable Growth: This independence will enable us to expand our programs more sustainably, attracting more kids and teens who are eager to learn and grow in their musical journey.
Community Hub: Our rehearsal space will serve as a community hub for music education, fostering connections between young musicians and mentors while promoting collaboration and creativity.
As we reflect on this journey, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who contributed to the success of the program. Your support and encouragement mean the world to us and to the young musicians we aim to empower.
